Exhibitors who advanced to the regional finals in both the Northern District Agricultural Shows (NDAS) and Victorian Agricultural Shows (VAS Ltd) sections converged in Swan Hill for the NDAS Regional Final on Sunday, showcasing their exhibits for evaluation.
Spanning from Bendigo to Mildura and into New South Wales, the Northern District welcomed participants who secured first and second places at local shows to vie for regional honours. Winners from the VAS Ltd competitions at the regional level will proceed to compete at the state final.
Among the local NDAS winners was Millie Dobie from Cohuna, who received a Highly Commended for her junior chocolate cake, while Ashleigh Fernee of Kerang claimed first place in junior Anzac biscuits. Ashleigh also secured second place in junior decorated Marie biscuits, with Rory Fernee from Kerang clinching third.
In the photography category, Zylee Campi from Cohuna took second place, followed by Paige Betson from Kerang in third. Catherine Rosewall of Kerang triumphed in the Anzac biscuits category, with Gabrielle Fitzpatrick from Cohuna earning a Highly Commended mention. Lorraine Marhsall from Kerang claimed second place in the chocolate mud cake category, while Margaret Minnis from Barham/Koondrook secured third place in jams and preserves.
In the VAS Ltd section, Micah Steel from Kerang received a Highly Commended for junior photography. Shirley Costello from Cohuna earned third place in the rich fruit cake category, while Catherine Rosewall from Kerang dominated the carrot cake category, claiming both first and third places. In cross stitch, Catherine Rosewall from Cohuna secured second place. Kerry McFarlane from Kerang took second place and received a Highly Commended mention in photography. Glenis Ficken from Kerang secured second and third places in the fleece-medium wool category.
Additionally, Paige O’Connell from Cohuna was named Junior Ambassador, securing first place in the respective category.
