Newstead Open Studios art trail

9, 10, 11 and 16, 17 March 2024, from 11 am to 5 pm, strap yourself in for the Newstead Open Studios art trail, a locally brewed and crafted event that’s been happening annually since 2015, right here in the heart of Victoria’s goldfields region. This year, marking our tenth lap around the sun, we’re bringing you 10 studios with a whopping 17 artists getting in on the action. From a historic brick hall in Sandon to an original timber shop in Newstead, plus a goods shed and a bunch of bespoke sheds and workspaces, we’ve got it all.

Each year, we swing open our studio doors to you lot. You’ll find a truckload of stunning and diverse art up for grabs at each stop. It’s your chance to feast your eyes on ceramics, sculptures, paintings, prints, drawings, jewellery, glassware, and mixed media marvels.

Visiting a studio is a real treat – come on in, suss out the scene, and hit us up with any questions. We’ll be chuffed to share a yarn or two about our craft and what gets us fired up. It’s a full-on sensory experience, mate.

Grab yourself a guide to the art trail in Newstead at 12 Lyons Street or swing by the Castlemaine Visitor Information Centre. Or, if you’re feeling tech-savvy, download it straight from our website at newsteadopenstudios.org.

The Newstead Open Studios art trail is part of Arts Open, an event sprawled across the Mount Alexander Shire. For the full lowdown, head to www.artsopen.com.au.
