Bailee through to Lions Youth of the Year district final

Bailee White, a student from Nhill College, has emerged as one of the two representatives chosen from Lions clubs across Western Victoria to advance to the District Final of Lions Youth of the Year. Joining her is Emily Eastman from Casterton Secondary College, while Jaylen Stephens from Ararat Marian College also participated in the event.

The final, orchestrated by Zones West Coordinator Lion Butch Witmitz from Kaniva, was hosted by the Lions Club of Horsham and guided by Zone Chairperson Lion Shirley Blackwood. Lions Youth of the Year, a program celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, stands as a remarkable initiative supporting young Australians.

Although a national project, Youth of the Year operates on a club-based structure, relying entirely on the support and engagement of Lions Clubs and schools. It aims to empower students by providing them with skills and experiences that bolster confidence in employment and public settings.

Reflecting on her participation, Bailee White expressed gratitude for the opportunity presented by Lions Youth of the Year. She described the process, which involved interviews exploring various aspects of her life and community contributions, as well as impromptu speeches and prepared presentations. Bailee encourages others to consider joining the program, emphasizing its enriching nature.

Bailee and Emily are set to advance to the District Final scheduled for March 23rd in Camperdown, where they will compete alongside six other students for a chance to progress to the Victorian State Final in April. The Lions Club of Nhill extends its pride in Bailee’s achievement and wishes her the best for the forthcoming stages.

Congratulations, Bailee, and well done!
