Local Sports Tennant Creek Speedway celebrates its own Rising Star

Tennant Creek Speedway shines in NT Motorsports!

Tennant Creek Speedway has roared into the top gear over the past few weeks, with some impressive wins and nominations at the Motorsport NT Awards.

Young gun Jamie Jones was a double threat, scoring nominations for both 2023 Junior Driver and 2023 Rising Star. He faced tough competition from 22 other NT clubs, but ultimately took home the coveted Rising Star trophy! A big thanks from Jamie to his supporters, sponsors, and everyone who helped him get there.

Tennant Creek wasn’t a one-man show, though. Jack Yates was nominated for Senior Driver of the Year, Diana Sawers for Official of the Year, and Aiden James for Volunteer of the Year. Even without taking home the trophies, they’re all champions in our eyes, keeping the motorsport spirit alive in Tennant Creek.

Over at the Arunga Park Speedway President Cup, Team Harden Up Racing showed they mean business. Representing Tennant Creek with pride were Connor Carse, Jayden Geizendanner, Aiden James, Lucas Fry, and Jack Yates.

Connor started strong in the Juniors, but a bit of bad luck (“bingle” as we like to say here!) took him out of the race. Jayden in the Street Stocks also had a tough night with mechanical troubles.

But that didn’t stop the Tennant Creek crew! Jack, Aiden, and Lucas put their foot down against the Alice Springs team, determined to bring home the win. Jack took first place, with Aiden and Lucas hot on his heels. Top driving, fellas!

So, let’s give a big shoutout to Tennant Creek Speedway and all the talented racers, officials, and volunteers who make it happen. You’re keeping the NT motorsport scene exciting!
