Narrandera remembers at town’s ANZAC Day march and services

ANZAC Day was solemnly observed in Narrandera last Thursday, commencing with the Dawn Service at the Narrandera War Cemetery. Following this, a march along East Street led participants to the Memorial Gardens for the main service. The day’s events were capped off with a luncheon at the Narrandera Ex-servicemen’s Club, providing a moment for reflection and camaraderie.

Ex-service personnel from various conflicts, along with students from all Narrandera schools and St Francis de Sales College at Leeton, participated in the march and services. Peter Simpson, the president of the Narrandera RSL Sub-branch, expressed satisfaction with the turnout, emphasizing the importance of remembering the fallen and honoring the veterans who returned home from war.

Particularly notable was the presence of school students and young service personnel, whose participation added to the significance of the occasion. Among them were Madeline Fraser and Tahlia Gilbert from Narrandera High School, Estelle Annetts Prior and Alexander Davis from St Joseph’s Catholic School Narrandera, Audrey Curry and Hogan Hutchins from Narrandera Public School, and Max Morton and Jasmine Wilson from Narrandera East Infants School.
