Ready to race

The Towong Turf Club anticipates a record turnout and full fields for its upcoming Cup meeting this Saturday, boasting an impressive 268 nominations across the seven-race card. The highly anticipated 2023 $30,000 Costello Rural-Life Plan Strategic Solutions Towong Cup promises to be fiercely competitive, with 2022 winner Mischinka vying for a repeat victory.

Trained by Ben Brisbourne from Wangaratta, Mischinka enters the race in peak form, having secured placements in higher-tier competitions over her last six starts. Brisbourne has also entered the accomplished Oceans Of Stanima in the main event.

Among the contenders is last year’s runner-up, Euphemia, trained by Gerald Egan and co-owned by Wendy Heal and Dixie Coutts, daughters of former club president T J Waters. The highest-rated nomination is Banger, trained by Craig Widdison, known for its strong performances in recent races.

In addition to the thrilling races, attendees can look forward to the customary ‘Fashions on the Field’ sponsored by RB Sellars, offering over $1000 in prize money, along with live music and complimentary shuttle buses ensuring safe transportation to and from the track.

The action-packed race program commences at 1:35 pm, with final acceptors set to be announced later today. With a promising forecast of fine weather, the track is expected to be rated as a Good 4.

General admission tickets are available for purchase online at towong.tickets.countryracing.com.au/ or at the gate (cash only).
