Fire ant presentation in Casino aims to reduce the spread of invasive pest

Ire ants are real battlers, mate. Though they’re small, they pack a punch that can turn our lives upside down. The discovery of a bunch of fire ant nests down in Wardell back in February got us worried about these pests spreading into the Richmond Valley area.

To lend a hand, the National Fire Ant Eradication Program mob are coming to Casino to give us the lowdown on how to suss out these little terrors, their nests, and what we’re doing to stop ’em from spreading like wildfire.

They’ll be dishing out info on how fire ants can mess with our health, environment, economy, society, and the way we live if we don’t give ’em the boot.

Pop down to Room 1 at the Casino Community Centre, 35 Walker Street, from 10-11.30 am on Thursday, March 21 to check out live fire ants up close and personal.

For more info, shoot an email to John.Purvis@daf.qld.gov.au.

This info comes straight from the Richmond Valley Council.
